Bar elections coming up; Mathis is president-elect

The field is set in the election for the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Board of governors.

Seven attorneys will compete for five two-year positions on the board.

The president-elect for 2005 is also set.

Kelly Mathis, a former partner at Gobelman, Love, Gavin, Blazs and Mathis now with his own practice, is unopposed as president-elect and will step into the office when Alan Pickert takes over as president.

There are three voting locations this year with early voting available at two. Votes can be cast from May 6 through May 18 for the board of governors at the JBA office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at the Duval County Courthouse room 220 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Votes will also be accepted at Deerwood Country Club on May 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the hours leading up to the Annual Meeting dinner.

The new board members will be announced at dinner. Only JBA members can vote. A ballot must include votes for five candidates to be counted.
