The New Main Library, one the largest projects to come out of the Better Jacksonville Plan, is just a few months away from its Nov. 12 opening. The $95 million building will feature state-of-the-art technology, an exterior courtyard and fountain, a 400-seat auditorium, a cafe and a bookstore.
“We’re all very excited about it,” Kristin Key, a press aide in Mayor John Peyton’s office, said of the 300,000 square foot building. “It’s an absolutely beautiful building that’s going to take the entire city to a new level.”
Key said a weeklong celebration will take place to mark the Library’s opening.
Details surrounding those plans will likely surface some time in
September, she said.
