Two events came together at City Hall Thursday when the mayor hosted his Christmas party and City Council had its annual open house.
Mayor John Peyton’s party had many events for children including cotton candy and popcorn, face painting, Santa Claus and the Mayor’s book rally.
The Council’s annual open house was an opportunity for Council members to meet the public and vice versa.
“It’s just our way of saying thank you,” said Cheryl Brown, director/council secretary of the Council. “It’s an opportunity to enjoy time with us in a more relaxed and jovial way,”
Last year, more than 2,000 people attended the open house, Brown said.
