Representatives from The Davidson Cos. showed off their skeet-shooting skills in the “I Shot with the Sheriff” fundraiser Nov. 29 at the Jacksonville Gun Club.
All contributions and proceeds from the annual event benefit the Police Athletic League of Jacksonville Inc. Sheriff John H. Rutherford heads up the event, which includes a shooting competition, dinner and awards ceremony. Participants shoot at 110 targets, including skeet and trap. The Davidson team included Jim Davidson, president of Davidson Development Inc.; Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Realty Inc.; Matt Davidson and Mike and Roberta Hicks.
Team Davidson - all of whom shoot skeet competitively - shot 50 skeet and 50 trap in the contest and Jim Davidson made it into a shoot-off for top individual.
“Jim made a valiant effort, but got beat in the shoot off,” said Sherry Davidson. “Still, we all had a wonderful time and we helped raise money for a great organization. We’re already practicing up for next year.”
The Police Athletic League strives to help at-risk youth become outstanding citizens and future leaders. The group’s athletic and educational programs aim to help these youth develop self-esteem and confidence.
