The Florida Association of Realtors has awarded Sen. Daniel Webster (R-Winter Garden) and Rep. Don Brown (R-DeFuniak Springs) their top legislative awards.
As sponsor of the Commercial Real Estate Lien Act of 2004, Brown was honored for being instrumental in passage of the bill giving commercial brokers a mechanism — besides the courts — to enforce commission agreements. However, the legislation was later vetoed by Gov. Jeb Bush.
As the chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Economic Development, Webster was honored for being the leading force in the reauthorization of the William E. Sadowski Trust Funds, which provide a dedicated revenue source for affordable housing programs statewide. He also was instrumental in the passage of several Realtor-supported legislative initiatives.
