Eight musicians from the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra meet this week in the last stage of the 2005 JSYO Concerto Competition Finals Recital.

Each will perform a solo work in a recital open to the public at the Cummer Museum at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

This year’s competition began with 20 contestants from the JSYO’s top orchestra, Philharmonic, and was then pared down to the finalists.

The finalists will perform solo works with piano accompaniment and the judges will determine three winners who will perform as soloists with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra at the 12th annual CSX Major/Minor Concert on April 30.

Admission is free. For more information, contact 354-9251.
