Alan Mosley quietly settled into his new position as director of the City’s Public Works Department last week.

A long-time City employee throughout much of the 1980s and 90s, Mosley is making the transition from being president of Kloss, Mosley & Associates, Inc., an engineering firm he founded a few years ago. He replaces former director Lyn Westbrook.

“It’s exciting to be back,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

During his first few days on the job, Mosley said he took the time to meet as many of the over 700 employees working for him as possible, going office to office shaking hands and making eye contact.

“It was my way of making a really nice first impression,” he said. “Even though I know a lot of people over here, I wanted to personally introduce myself to everyone else.”
