JBA elections approaching

Election season is coming up for the Jacksonville Bar Association.

Nominations for president-elect and five board positions are due at the JBA offices by March 31. Nominating petitions are available from, the JBA office at 399-4486.

Nominees must be members in good standing of the JBA and their petitions must be signed by 10 active members. Nominees for president-elect must have been a member for at least 5 years.

After all the petitions are in, the JBA will make available profiles of all the candidates.

The polls open Thursday, May 5, 10 business days before the JBA’s May 19 annual meeting at Deerwood Country Club. Members can vote at the JBA’s offices at 1301 Riverplace Boulevard, Suite 730 or at the Duval County Courthouse in room 220. On the day of the annual meeting, votes can be cast only at Deerwood.

The president-elect is chosen annually. The 10 board members serve two-year terms elected five at a time each year. Together with the president and the president of the JBA’s Young Lawyers Section, the board sets JBA policy.

Reginald Luster is the current president and Alan Pickert is president-elect.
