Poster contest winners

The Law Week Poster Contest awards ceremony at the Duval County Courthouse marked the official end of Law Week activities in Jacksonville. For the past several months, students in Cecilia DuShey-Ward’s art class at Annie Morgan Elementary have been learning about the American jury system and creating posters showing what they learned. The top three winners from this year’s contest are third grader Saudia Timesha Pressley, fourth grader Tamera Deshay and fifth grader Fredericha Briana Stanley. The winning students received art-related prizes furnished by local law firms Marks Gray, Harris Guidi and Terrell Hogan.

JWLA elects new officers

The Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association held elections last week for the upcoming year. JWLA’s new officers and board members are Deborah Greene, president; Patricia Dodson, president-elect; Vicki Nemerson, secretary; Maria Keebler, treasurer; Grace Van Houten, VP of information technology; Ingrid Bethel, VP of public relations; Amanda Tice, VP of membership and events; and Susan Haag, VP of professional development.

Timothy W. Dunham has been appointed as an assistant general counsel with the City’s Office of General Counsel. Dunham will be working in the government operations department ... Bethany Ray Reichard has joined Holbrook Akel as an associate. Reichard graduated from Auburn and Cumberland School of Law. She will practice in the area of civil litigation.

Seminar on new bankruptcy laws

The Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association is hosting a seminar on the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. The seminar will cover what the legislation means and how it will be applied. It will also cover how the Clerk and Trustees’ offices will be implementing the provisions. The seminar will be held at the Omni on June 17 from 1-4:45 p.m. For more information, call 356-8371.
