When setting up his office two years ago, Sheriff John Rutherford kept three things in mind.
“It’s simple, really,” he said. “In any office I’ve ever had, I like to focus on faith, family and friends. Those are the things I love most so I like to surround myself with them. If I can do that while obviously making sure that it’s functional I feel comfortable.”
Rutherford’s Workspace is located on the third floor of the Police Memorial Building on East Bay Street and, unlike those of most public figures, it’s light on plaques and awards.
“I try to stay away from keeping them in here because it keeps me grounded,” he said. “We keep all of the awards and things like that out in the hallway.”
