San Jose, a section of Jacksonville well known for its storied beginning and history, will see a new community take shape in the area this year. McGarvey Residential Communities has announced plans for Old San Jose on the River, a new neighborhood that will be built on the current site of River Reach Apartments

The property is on approximately 14 acres at 5000 San Jose Blvd. just north of the Lakewood area.

The neighborhood will be composed of 17 buildings with approximately 240 units, including about 80 units on the river. A mix of flats and townhomes — situated so all have views of the river, gardens or green spaces — will feature two- and three-bedroom floor plans ranging in size from 1,900 to 4,500 square feet. Mediterranean Revival architecture, European-scaled streets and pedestrian walkways, terraces and more than a dozen park areas are designed to provide a village-like feel.

Other amenities will include a riverfront promenade with an infinity-edge swimming pool, an extensive private fitness center, and three guest suites that will be available for residents’ guests.

Looney Ricks and Kiss of Memphis was selected as the architect.

Jim Citrano Jr. is the project manager for Old San Jose on the River responsible for overseeing all aspects of design, construction and marketing. Dee Fannin has been named sales manager and will provide one-on-one consultation to prospective buyers.
