WCI Communities celebrated the halfway mark and topping off of Costa Verano, the company’s new 13-story oceanfront condominium in Jacksonville Beach.

“The construction of Costa Verano has been moving along rapidly since we broke ground last year and we are ahead of schedule,” Project Manager Frank Mendola said.

The topping off celebration is a long-standing building tradition that recognizes the milestone of completing the basic structure when the building reaches its full height. The Auchter Co., Costa Verano’s contractor, provided lunch from Bono’s Barbecue to thank the construction crew participating in the development and WCI distributed more than 200 T-shirts with the Costa Verano logo. There were raffle ticket drawings for prizes including gift certificates to area restaurants and hardware stores.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Costa Verano residents will have direct private beach access and an outdoor recreation area with a pool. The condominium features an array of amenities including a two-story grand salon, surround-sound theater room, fitness center with jetted spa, sauna and steam room, and guest suites for overnight guests that are exclusive to the community.

Although the 91-home condominium sold out last year, opportunities remain to purchase one of the nine Costa Verano Townhomes, which are located across the street from the condominium in south Jacksonville Beach. The townhomes, which are just steps from the ocean, have all of the exclusive community amenities at Costa Verano.

Most of the townhomes have ocean views and range in size from 2,395 to 2,782 square feet. They include private entrances, covered porches, open terraces and attached two-car garages. The townhomes include gourmet kitchens with stainless steel appliances, Subzero refrigerators, custom wood cabinetry and granite countertops. The townhomes also have 10-foot ceilings (except where dropped), solid core doors, crown moulding in the entry foyer and great room and porcelain glazed tile in the entry foyer, kitchen and baths. All floor plans are designed to accommodate an optional in-house elevator.

The Costa Verano Townhomes are being built to the standards of the Florida Green Building Coalition and expected to be the first green multi-family home development in Duval County. Development plans include low VOC (voltaic organic compounds) paint, a hot-water-on-demand system, steel (recyclable) studs, drywall made with recycled material, concrete with resource-saving fly ash and landscaping with native plants.

Construction on the townhomes was scheduled to begin in September. They are priced from $980,000. Completion of both the condominium and townhomes is anticipated by next summer.
