Florida Bar bolsters referral service
Okaloosa and Walton counties have recently been added to the Florida Bar’s Lawyer Referral Service, which now brings the coverage area to 48 counties in Florida. The referral service is a public service program offered by the bar to provide public access to the legal system. Nineteen of the 48 counties are handled by local bar association referral services. More than 1,200 attorneys participate in the service and last year more than 135,000 referrals were made using the system.
Hispanic Bar extends voting period
Due to the length of the Oct. 11 meeting, the Hispanic Bar Association of Northeast Florida was unable to hold the scheduled election of officers. Voting has been extended until Oct. 19 and will be conducted using e-mail. HBA members may now vote on the slate of officers by sending an e-mail response to [email protected]. Running for HBA office are Phil Buhler, president-elect; Arthur Hernandez, vice-president of membership and events; Patricia Parker, treasurer; and Ada Hammond, secretary. Members are asked to send a single e-mail with a “yes” or “no” response for each person on the slate.
Swearing-in of Federal Bar officers
The Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association is holding its swearing-in ceremony Oct. 26 at the Omni Hotel. Judge James Hill, senior judge for the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, will be speaking at the noontime meeting. The luncheon is free for members and $20 for guests. Coffman Coleman makes “Best Lawyers” list

Jackson joins Brennan, Manna and Diamond
Brennan, Manna and Diamond recently announced that Matt Jackson has joined the firm’s litigation and government relations group. Jackson comes to the firm after six years as the executive assistant to Jacksonville City Councilman Reggie Fullwood. Jackson is a summa cum laude graduate of University of North Florida.
