Harmony Homes under new ownership

The Drees Company, a billion-dollar company headquartered in Ft. Mitchell, Ky., has purchased the assets of Harmony Homes of North Florida, Inc.

Harmony Homes was founded in 1994 by David Shacter, a licensed builder with a graduate degree in architecture. He is currently the company’s president and CEO. His wife, Melody Shacter, is chief operating officer. The Shacters will remain actively involved in the Jacksonville operation of Drees Homes, according to company information.

A member of the Northeast Florida Builders Association, Harmony Homes is currently building single-family homes in Oakbrook, North Campus, Campus Hills, Cape Coral, Lindsey’s Crossing, Hannah Stables, Sheffield Oaks, Heritage Landing at World Golf Village, Morse Glen, Morse Oaks, and Creekside Bend. The company will close more than 200 homes in 2005, at an average sales price of $175,000.
