Heather O’Malley has been the marketing representative and closing agent with America’s Choice Title Company for just more than a year.
WHAT DOES SHE DO?
“My position consists of meeting with builders, developers, mortgage companies, banks and Realtors in the Jacksonville area. I am responsible for building and maintaining long-lasting relationships with our clients. I also perform closings throughout Northeast Florida.”
WHERE WAS SHE BEFORE?
She was a mobile notary closer for several title companies. “I also have a stationary business on the side. It’s more like a hobby, and I enjoy it very much.”
WHY DID YOU GO INTO THE TITLE BUSINESS?
“I enjoy working for a company where I can provide first-class service to individuals and wanted to work in an exciting and growing industry. Considering the incredible growth in Florida, I thought that America’s Choice Title would be a good fit.”
HOW DOES SHE LIKE THE JOB?
She loves it. “I find it very enjoyable to ensure a smooth closing for investors and homeowners. I especially enjoy meeting with all of the different players in the closing process. I’m a people person.”
HOW HAS YOUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE HELPED YOU IN YOUR NEW POSITION?
“I learned sales skills from my stationary business and I gained title knowledge working as a mobile notary. Being a people person also seems to help quite a bit.”
WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING THING ABOUT YOUR JOB?
O’Malley said the most challenging thing about her job is meeting with people who already have relationships with other title companies and do not wish to give her a chance.
LESSONS LEARNED?
“The most important lesson I’ve learned is that good things might come to those wait, but only what’s left from those who hustle. With some companies, I realize that we have to earn their business. However, we cannot earn it if they don’t give us a chance.”
COLLEGE
She has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of South Florida.
HOMETOWN?
She grew up in Rockville, Md. After living in Virginia for several years, she moved to Florida in 1997.
RESIDES

PERSONAL SIDE

Also, I enjoy working on various local charity events.” O’Malley is single and has three children: Delaney, 14; Timmy, 12 and Gavin, 11. The last movie she saw was “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” “It was a great movie, I loved it!” The last book she read was “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom. “I liked it because it was very inspirational.” O’Malley doesn’t watch much television, but her new favorite show is “Desperate Housewives” and her favorite restaurant is Ruth’s Chris. “It’s always a great meal.” When traveling, her favorite place to visit is Pawleys Island, S.C. “My parents live there and it’s a central meeting place for my whole family to get together.”
