The Jacksonville office of Batson-Cook Co. has broken ground on The Magnolia, a new four-story, 43,300-square-foot building on the campus of Westminster Woods on Julington Creek, an active living community located on 75 acres along Julington Creek.

The $5.5 million addition adds 27 apartment homes to the community and is the first step in a 20-year redevelopment plan for the 41-year-old campus, the area’s oldest active living community. The waterfront building will be erected on the east side of the inlet centered on the community’s campus. It will add seven one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom apartment homes for individuals seeking an active lifestyle in a wooded residential setting. The apartments are expected to be ready for occupancy next summer.

The Magnolia entrance fees range from $160,000 to $185,000, with larger apartments at $191,000; half of the apartment homes have already been reserved.
