Sculptor J. Seward Johnson becomes part of the art in his sculpture interpretation of Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting “The Bedroom.” This exhibit, along with 14 other life-size sculpture interpretations of famous works from artists including Manet, Monet and Renoir, will be on display in the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens until Jan. 8. The exhibition, called “Beyond the Frame: Impressionism Revisited, The Sculptures of J. Seward Johnson,” not only depicts the paintings in vivid detail but also items, people and scenes that Johnson imagines are happening “just beyond the frame.” The exhibition was organized and is circulated by the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
