Znequet McGee wasn’t running up and down Forsyth Street over and over and over Tuesday as part of some odd, new training regimen. She was taking part in a commercial photo shoot for Asics Footwear and Apparel’s spring catalog.
John Barnhart, a producer for Stylecraft, a Southern California-based company doing the creative work along with more than 20 athletes, said he will be in town through the rest of the week shooting the spot. He said the company chose Jacksonville because of its diverse locales that range from beaches to parks to Downtown and the predictable, good weather this time of year.
“(Jacksonville) has so many things to offer and the film commission was easy to work with,” said Barnhart, adding they would need more than 100 on-location shots to complete the project.
McGee is a sprinter and graduate from Ole’ Miss. Shooting started Tuesday in Hanna Park and other areas at the beach. Every six months creative companies pick a different city in the U.S. and Canada for the Asics spring and fall catalogs.
