JBBA to announce officers

The Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association nominating committee will announce its officers and directors for the 2006-07 year to its members at the April 27 JBBA meeting. The committee consists of Ed Jackson, Raye Curry and Mamie Davis and nominees will be voted on at the may 25 meeting. According to Davis, many of the current officers have expressed interest in staying on, however the JBBA does need a secretary for the next year.

Professor looks for local input

Professor Jeffrey Davis will be speaking at the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar’s meeting May 25 and he’s looking for input. Davis would like to talk about how the changes in the bankruptcy law have affected the practice in the Jacksonville area. Court numbers show there has been a decrease in cases filed, however, he is also interested in learning what other changes have area lawyers experienced in the way the new law is affecting practice. Has anything surprised you? How has the process changed for you and your clients? How, if at all, have outcomes changed? Have you noticed any affects of the new law upon you or your clients which you believe were not anticipated by the Legislature? Is there anything else you would like to add? You may reply to the group or directly to Davis at [email protected].
