In the coming years there will be many changes taking place concerning transportation around Jacksonville. One of the major initiatives is the Mathews Bridge. Joe Debs, senior vice president of transportation/infrastructure with Reynolds, Smith & Hills, Inc., said there are plans to build a new bridge or add a second bridge next to the current one. “In the long term we are looking at a new (Mathews) bridge or a corresponding bridge,” he said. “But in the short term we are working on replacing the grating.” Here are four renderings of a potential new Mathews Bridge.
