The 2006 class of the World Golf Hall of Fame is complete with the addition of the late Mark McCormack, who became the sport’s first super agent through his International Management Group.
McCormack will be inducted posthumously on Oct. 30 along with Larry Nelson, Vijay Singh, Marilynn Smith and the late Henry Picard.
Arnold Palmer, McCormack’s first client at the International Management Group, will speak on his behalf at the 2006 Induction Ceremony. The legendary handshake deal between the two in 1960 was the foundation for the sports marketing industry and evolved for McCormack into what would become IMG, which became the world’s premier sports, entertainment and media company.
McCormack was chosen by the World Golf Foundation Board of Directors Selection Committee through its Lifetime Achievement category.
The time of the induction ceremony has not been announced.
