The 11th and 12th Districts Masonic Association recently made a $5,000 donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The money will be used to fund research on type 1 diabetes and its complications. The association represents 22 local Masonic Lodges with more than 4,000 members. Masonic Lodge Chairman Dan Mitola (fourth from left) made the presentation along with Masonic Lodge representative Charles “Scooter” Barr (third from left) to Daniel Nowlin, Sammy Smith, JDRF board member Leslie Burkhalter, JDRF Executive Director Brooks Biagini and Kaylin Hoffman. The money was raised through a golf tournament and bake sale. After the bake sale, though, Burkhalter raffled hugs for $100 and raised another $1,000.
