• After several months, the scaffolding inside the Bank of America tower is gone and all three entrance ways are open. Many of the ceiling tiles were replaced and painted.
• U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown and Mayor John Peyton will present the opening remarks at Tuesday’s YouthBuild and DAWN (Developing Adults With Necessary Skills) program. It’s at 2:30 p.m. at the Office of the Sheriff’s Community Corrections Facility on Catherine Street. Thirteen young adults will be honored for obtaining their GED certification while serving jail sentences.
• Looking for an investment? The Julington Creek location of Larry’s Giant Subs is for sale. The current owner bought the store eight months ago, but is selling for medical reasons. Up for auction are the franchise, the equipment and the remainder of the lease: four years and four months. The auction is Monday at 1 p.m. at the store.
• The Aviation Authority’s annual fish fry is Friday at 11 a.m. at the Sheltair Aviation Services west hangar, and enough whiting to feed 1,200 people has been ordered. The menu is: fried whiting, cheese or plain grits, hush puppies, cole slaw, iced tea and assorted desserts.
• Gator Bowl Association Committee members that haven’t gotten their Toyota Gator Bowl tickets yet will have to pay full price. According to Alex Langston of the GBA, now that Ga. Tech and West Virginia have their allotment of tickets, there is no more discount for committee members. Champions Club tickets are $65, while upper deck tickets are $50.
• No suits allowed at Rod Carter’s Blazer and Blue Jeans Bash. The Dec. 23 event at the Jacksonville Golf and County Club will let in sports coats and blazers only.To purchase tickets for the event, call 662-6484.

• New Jersey band Yo La Tengo will bring some indie rock to Jacksonville Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. at the Florida Theatre. Tickets are $20 and $25. For more information, call 355-2787.
• You can catch a show and help out the Salvation Army’s holiday programs at the same time if you visit the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra this month. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the First Coast Nutcracker, Holiday Pops or Sounds of the Season performances at the Times-Union Center, and JSO will give you a voucher for two tickets to an upcoming concert.
• The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville (formerly known as the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art) will showcase African American cinema pioneers throughout February 2007. The Red, White and Black program will start with a screening of Oscar Micheaux’s 1924 silent film “Body and Soul” at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7. Admission to the museum’s on-site theater is $5 for students and MOCA members, $7 for non-members.
• The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce recently redesigned its Web site, www.MyJaxChamber.com. The layout changed to make the site easier to navigate.
