Twelve members of Mercedes Homes’ Jacksonville division banded together to support the Northern Florida Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual Light the Night Walk. Over the last two months the team raised more than $2,000 to raise awareness of and fund research to cure blood cancers.
Among them were Theresa McKinney, Stacey Birkholz, Kerry Soltis and Rossy Mavety, preparing for the walk at the Jacksonville Landing.
The Mercedes Homes team raised money through employee donations and company fundraisers, such as Blue Jeans’ Days.
The evening two-mile walk attracted supporters and survivors who carried white and red balloons along an illuminated path across the St. Johns River and back again.
The Light the Night Walk is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s nationwide evening walk. Walkers carry illuminated balloons to celebrate and commemorate the lives touched by cancer. Funds raised will support our mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
