Barricades and yellow tape still line some parts of Five Points but one additional piece of construction was completed last week.
The archway of the Five Points Theater Building, sawed off when stucco was put on the face of the building, has been restored.
The work was done by Craig Pedroni, president of Pedroni’s Cast Stone and Precast Solutions, a Jacksonville- based company. He is the grandson of the original installer, Andrew Frank Pedroni.
“We had to remake both ends of the arch,” said Lance Martinet, a project manager at Pedroni’s Cast Stone and Precast Solutions. “Most of the original cast stone remains from the first installation.”
The old Riverside Theater Building on Park Street has been under construction for more than a year and was expected to be finished in January.
Currently there are four retail bays in the building — two are occupied and two are negotiating with a restaurant, according to Jack Shad, one of the owners of the building.
The two occupied stores, City Cycle, a bicycle shop, and Procyon, a bath and beauty store, both received certificates of occupancy last week and are expected to open soon, said Shad.
