Builders Care enjoyed a great assist from The Players Championship and golfer Fred Funk recently.

Builders Care had been selected to build a new home for J.T. Townsend, the Episcopal High School football player who was paralyzed during a game last year. Townsend has been living with an aunt until a home can be built that will accommodate his needs.

During The Players Championship Giving Back Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency in November, Funk announced that The Players Championship and the PGA Tour had earmarked $100,000 for Townsend.

Two days earlier, Funk more than doubled that amount when he made the winning birdie putt at the nationally-televised “Skins Game” tournament to win $925,000. Before the tournament, Funk had chosen Townsend’s foundation as the one to which he would donate 20 percent of his earnings, which came to $185,000. Funk specified that his donation be used to build Townsend and his family a new home.
