• The Jacksonville Port Authority will unveil a new photography exhibition called “Faces of the Port” Wednesday at the Main Library. The photographs were taken by University of North Florida graduate Joella Davis. After showing for two months in the Main Library, the exhibition will rotate to venues throughout Jacksonville. The pictures will also be used in the Port Authority’s Web site, which will launch this summer.

• Florida head football coach Urban Meyer comes off as a strict disciplinarian, but Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley said he’s just one of the guys, kind of. “He’s the kind of guy you want to sit down and have a beer with... Although he drinks wine,” said Foley during a recent speech to the Jacksonville Bar Association.

• Remember Mike Kelly, who ran the Super Bowl Host Committee and is now doing the same for Miami as it gets ready for the 2007 game? He was recently chosen by Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal as one of the 40 most influential people in sports under age 40. He’ll be honored at the Forty Under 40 awards banquet March 29 at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. Previous recipients include U. of Georgia Athletic Director Damon Evans, Boston Red Sox GM Theo Epstein and NASCAR Sr. Vice President Paul Brooks.

• Monday’s Rotary Club features former British Prime Minister John Major. Lunch is at noon at the Radisson, followed by the meeting.

• City Council President Kevin Hyde has initiated a new program called Homework Zone, which provides free homework assistance to Jacksonville’s youth by trained volunteers. The program will connect corporate and community volunteers to designated after-school programs to serve as “Homework Coaches” to school success among Jacksonville’s youth. The program will be managed by the Jacksonville Children’s Commission. For information on volunteering call Cheryl Townsend at (904) 630-6405.

• The Jacksonville First Coast Chapter of the Florida Motion Picture & Television Association is presenting “An Evening with Paul Sirmons,” Florida’s State Film Commissioner, Feb. 8 at 7:30 in WJCT’s Studio A. Admission is free for FMPTA members and first-time guests; $10 for returning guests.

• The Jacksonville office of Lewis, Longman & Walker, P.A. has moved into the St. Joe Building. The new address is 245 Riverside Ave., Suite 150.

• Gov. Jeb Bush announced Assistant Vice President of CSX Katherine Wilson as the new chair of the Workforce Florida Board of Directors this week. Wilson has been a member of the board since February 2005 and will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Tramm Hudson.

• Ed Zoller is the new vice president of purchasing for the Northeast Florida division of Beazer Homes. Zoller received his master’s degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and has more than 10 years experience as a senior purchasing executive.

• Isaac Brown of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was recently recognized by Attorney General Charlie Crist for his work on the force. Brown was one of several law enforcement officers from all over the state to be recognized by Crist as part of his Law Enforcement Officer of the Year program. According to Crist, Brown has arrested numerous dangerous criminals over the years and neither he nor any of his suspects has been injured in the process.

• According to its Web site, Mark’s — the new bar/club on Bay Street — will open Feb. 6

• Speaking of opening, the second Northbank Starbucks location recently opened in the Hyatt.
