Don P. Wilford (right), North Florida division president of the Jacksonville Division of ICI Homes, shook hands with mentee Adam Hutchinson after being honored as “Mentor of the Year” at a recent ceremony at the White House. Wilford was one of six U.S. executives honored at the ceremony for his efforts with mentoring jailed juveniles. Karen Sutherland, North Florida division vice president for ICI Homes in Jacksonville, said Wilford was recently named a national mentor of the year in the first annual awards for the National Mentoring Partnership. Wilford had previously been recognized as the Florida State Mentor of the Year in 2005. Wilford and Hutchinson met with Congressional representatives and were honored at a gala reception and dinner at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel. Hutchinson will receive a $5,000 scholarship and the local mentoring program a $2,000 mini-grant.
