Harmony Homes has changed its name to Drees Homes to reflect the sale of the company; the Kentucky builder purchased Harmony last year.
The company’s local offices will remain in Jacksonville. Signs in Harmony Homes’ communities are displaying the new name and all advertising materials will reflect the new name and logo.
David Shacter, a licensed builder and architect, founded Harmony Homes in 1994. Shacter will remain as the company’s land acquisition president, with his wife, Melody, as division president.
Drees Homes is the country’s 10th largest private builder. Headquartered in Fort Mitchell, Ky., the company also has operations in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Cleveland, Ohio; Indianapolis; Nashville; Raleigh; Washington D.C.; Frederick, Md.; and Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth, Tex.
With 1,285 employees, Drees had $1 billion in sales last year.
