Don Wilford, the North Florida division president of the Jacksonville Division of ICI Homes, was one of six U.S. executives honored at a recent White House ceremony for his efforts at mentoring jailed juveniles.
Wilford was named a national mentor of the year in the first annual awards for the National Mentoring Partnership. He had previously been recognized as the Florida State Mentor of the Year in 2005.
Wilford and the young man he mentors met with congressional representatives and were honored at areception and dinner at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel. The young man will receive a $5,000 scholarship and the local mentoring program a $2,000 mini-grant.
