A roomful was on hand Thursday as Alan Pickert moderated his last meeting as Jacksonville Bar Association president before passing the gavel to Kelly Mathis. During the started-on-time-nearly-ended-on-time meeting Pickert reflected on his year.
Mathis will have some big shoes to fill. Under Pickert, the Bar grew by over 200 members and speakers such as Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver, University of Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley and former U.S. Sen. and vice-presidential candidate John Edwards spoke to the Bar. Mathis assured those in attendance he would continue to run tight meetings and encourage collegiality and professionalism within the local legal community.
