After three years of serving Jacksonville’s community through the Salvation Army, Majors Jim and Karol Seiler are moving onto a post in Atlanta. Advisory Board members, employees and other members of the local Salvation Army family gathered to wish the Seilers farewell Wednesday.

Advisory Board member Charlie Towers of Rogers Towers read a letter from Mayor John Peyton. He then read his own letter to the Seilers. He said at no time in his Salvation Army experience had he been exposed to such officers. The departure leaves a void in his heart, he said, and in the local advisory board.

Majors Jim and Linda Arrowood — another married Salvation Army couple — are being reassigned from Baltimore to Jacksonville to replace the Seilers. They’ll be here next week.
