University of Florida Levin College of Law

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and former EPA administrator Carol Browner are among the guests who will be on hand for the 2006 Public Interest Environmental Conference Thursday and Friday. Timely environmental topics — global warming, children and the environment, beach re-nourishment, and rhetoric and the environment — will be debated by environmental heavy hitters, including Georgetown Law Professor Edith Brown Weiss and University of Maryland Professor Rena Steinzor, among others. University of Miami School of Law

The University of Miami School of Law Center for Ethics & Public Service will present the fifth annual William M. Hoeveler Award for ethics and leadership in the legal profession to Janet Reno, Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Florida Coastal School of Law

FCSL’s Sports Law Society Symposium is Friday beginning at 9:45 a.m. Panelists will discuss varying perspectives on athlete drug testing and use from the view of the player, the team, the sports governing body, the medical practitioner and the independent governmental agency. Featured panelists include Paul Vance, general counsel and vice president of football operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Dr. Steve Lucie of the Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute.
