Patriotic proclamation

It was proclamation day in the mayor’s office Tuesday, the monthly event during which Mayor John Peyton honors various groups from all walks of life and parts of town. One of the groups recognized Tuesday was the Jacksonville Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. The local chapter was founded in 1906 and its charter was signed by President Theodore Roosevelt. Peyton (second from left) is with Lindsey Brock, president of the Florida Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Jacksonville chapter president George Lockhart and Jacksonville historian/genealogist Richard Cardell. The group will celebrate its 100th anniversary June 9
