There was a great turnout for the Hispanic Bar Association luncheon last week at the United States Courthouse at Jacksonville. There was also a good turnout for the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association luncheon. Then again, it was also the first time in anyone’s memory that two Bar associations held a luncheon together.
“I think it’s a great idea,” said Tatiana Salvador, an attorney with Rogers Towers and the outgoing president of the Hispanic Bar. “I have been a lawyer for 13-14 years and I have never known of a joint function between two Bars. I think this will work and I’d like to do it again.”
U.S. District Court Judge Virginia Hernandez Covington was the guest speaker, but the highlight may have been lunch, which was catered by Sol Cuban Cafe and arranged by Salvador.
“We have shredded beef, white rice and black beans, fried plantains and rice pudding,” she said.
