Former Florida State Seminoles Marcus Outzen (left) and David Castillo were on hand for Thursday’s Lady Gators & Lady Noles luncheon. Outzen played quarterback for the Seminoles from 1997-2000, mostly as a back-up. However, in 1998, starter Chris Weinke broke his neck and Outzen led the Seminoles past the Gators, 23-12, and into a berth in the national championship game where they lost to Tennessee, 23-16, in the Fiesta Bowl. Today, Outzen lives in Jacksonville and sells medical devices.
Castillo, a former center, graduated in 2005 and will enter FSU’s medical school in June. He’d like to become an orthopaedic surgeon and he’d know a thing or two about surgery. He’s had multiple foot and hand surgeries over the years. In fact, he’s going to have his sixth hand surgery soon. Castillo currently works for Seminole Boosters and the Tallahassee Democrat.
