This year’s Rotary Club of South Jacksonville’s Gingerbread Extravaganza won’t just raise money for local charities — it will build a “gingerbread house” for a local family.
The perimeter of Gingerbread Extravaganza was built with Coastal Construction Products’ insulated concrete forms and when the event is over the products will be used to build a HabiJax house.
“We built this display to give to HabiJax and we are going to take the money that was raised and the parts to build a ‘gingerbread house’,” said William Harrell of Coastal Construction Products. “This project is about community fun and a community funding project that benefits well respected charities.”
Proceeds benefit HabiJax, Ronald McDonald House of Jacksonville and South Jacksonville Rotary Charity Foundation.
The fourth annual Gingerbread Extravaganza is on display through Jan. 5 at the Avenues Mall in front of the Parisian department store. Hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. daily. Admission is a $5 donation for adults and $2 donation for children (kids 2 and under are free).
