• Attorney Arnold Tritt is hosting a two-hour seminar on Florida’s construction lien law Oct. 19 in the auditorium at the Northeast Florida Builders Association offices. • Ponte Vedra Attorney Steven Gard and St. Augustine financial advisor Jeff Helms are partnering to offer a workshop for lawyers and CPAs. It’s next Wednesday at noon at Aqua Grill in Sawgrass Village in Ponte Vedra. • At Thursday’s Downtown Vision, Inc. annual meeting, Council member Suzanne Jenkins, who is also a member of DVI’s Board of Directors, pointed out that it would be her last annual meeting as a Council member since her term expires June 30. Jenkins then announced she has endorsed Dist. 4 candidate Earl Johnson, who also attended the meeting.
• The background music wouldn’t stop playing at Friday’s Cornerstone luncheon, even when Gov. Jeb Bush approached the podium. “You’ve heard the music behind us,” he said. “Tonya Harding and I are pairing up for ‘Celebrity Dancing with the Stars,’ and the warm-up is about the begin.”
• The Gator Bowl Association also presented Bush with a football helmet at the luncheon. “If you’re a politician, you’re not supposed to wear funny hats,” said Bush, “so can I put it in my office?”
• The Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art will be hosting “JMOMA’s Great Race” from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 21. There are 50 teams (four per team) and each will receive 75 clues that will take them all over the First Coast. At each location the group must take a photo of the location. • Synovus Bank is planning to open its doors on Nov. 6 at the Prudential Drive location next to The Wine Cellar.
• The Downtown Living Tour committee is looking for volunteers to help during the Chamber’s Downtown Council, Downtown Living Tour Nov. 17 and 18. Volunteers can be part of the two-day event by acting as tour guides (you will get a script) or sell tickets and greet people at the different venues. • The Duval Legislative Delegation Members’ Report arrived off the presses last week and is now available to the public. The reports must first be sent to the members and are then released. The 34-page glossy contains information on members, the Legislative Delegation’s appropriation list for 2005-06 and 20 photos of Jacksonville’s waterscapes taken by award-winning City photographer Wes Lester; graphic work was done by Richard Weaver, who also works for the City. The St. Johns River has been one of the many concentrations of the delegation.
• The new Prudential Network Realty office in Atlantic Beach isn’t quite finished yet, but the offices on the first floor are functioning. The two-story building is on Atlantic where AIA ends. It’s where the Famous Amos was for years.
