TV spot for Dodd

Spohrer Wilner trial attorney Roger Dodd will be a guest commentator on Court TV’s Nov. 6 edition of “Best Defense.” The show is shot in New York and Dodd will be on for two hours. Dodd has been on TV before. He was recently on Court TV (center above) as a commentator in St. Augustine while the network was covering the Justin Barber murder trial.

Duke law professor here

Coffman, Coleman, Andrews & Grogan attorneys Pat Coleman and Eric Holshouser are hosting James Coleman, a professor of law at Duke University. Coleman will be here as part of the Duke Club of Greater Jacksonville and Duke University School of Law alumni luncheon at the firm’s offices Nov. 2. Coleman was recently on “60 Minutes” and provided the school’s response to the rape allegations made against members of the Duke lacrosse team.

Endorsement for Midyette

Attorney Jimmy Midyette Jr., a candidate for City Council District 9, received the endorsement of the Brewster Alumni Nurses Foundation. The group of African-American women are focused on preserving the old Brewster Hospital in LaVilla and endorsed Jimmy because of his commitment to historic preservation.

ABOTA seminar

The Jacksonville chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), is sponsoring a Professionalism Seminar Nov. 2 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in Courtroom A of the Duval County Courthouse. The topic is the Florida Bar Grievance Procedures, lead by Rut Liles of Liles, Gavin, Constantino & George. The free seminar is open to all attorneys and Florida Bar ethics credit will be given. JALA to honor Hyde

Jacksonville Area Legal Aid is honoring Foley & Larder attorney and City Council member Kevin Hyde at the 8th Annual “Equal Justice” awards reception Nov. 16 at the Hyatt. It’s at The River Club from 6-8 p.m. and Haskell President and CEO Steve Halverson is the guest speaker.
