• The law firm of GrayRobinson is holding another of its community leader forums Sept. 20. It’s at The River Club from noon-1:30 and Mayor John Peyton will be the guest speaker. According to the firm, the forums are designed to bring in business and community leaders and elected officials for the firm’s clients and attorneys to meet and hear from.

• You’ll have to wait until Sunday to try the new concessions at Alltel Stadium, but the Jaguars are holding a “Taste of the Stadium” event Thursday at noon for local media. This season there will be the classic football fare along with Tex-Mex, barbecue, carving stations and more.

• Blue Cross and Blue Shield executive Mike Hightower is the chair of this year’s American Heart Association Heart Walk and he’s set a high fundraising goal of topping the $115,000 that last year’s chair, Clarence Gooden of CSX, raised. The 14th annual Heart Walk is Saturday.

• Looking for somewhere to ride a Segway Personal Transporter? Try Amelia Island Plantation. The resort’s shop, Amelia’s Wheels, now has 27 Segways for rent and offers tours of the island on Segways.

• The new executive director of the Jacksonville Film Festival is Marlo Zarka, who took over Friday.

• Jacksonville Community Council, Inc. is set to start another season of forum topics which will be revealed in January. There are two meetings set for soon, though: a Sept. 27 gathering at a TBD site to discuss Jacksonville’s entertainment scene and big annual meeting the next morning at the Wyndham. Breakfast is at 8:30.

• Burdette Ketchum has hired a second creative director, Gregg Steward. He will lead creative efforts at the advertising agency with Patrick Golden.

• Old Arlington, Inc. is holding a history tour on Sept. 14 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville. The tours will educate guests on Arlington’s role in Jacksonville’s development and are from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m., with lunch provided in between. • The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is offering a preview of its Japanese exhibition from 6-8 p.m. on Sept. 13. The event will include Taiko drumming, Japanese cuisine and artists demonstrating painting and woodblock printmaking. Members get in free, guests pay $25 at the door.

• Condolences to former City Council member John Crescimbeni. His mother Alyne Eaves Crescimbeni-O’Neil passed away Sunday night.

• City Council member Mia Jones is officially kicking off her re-election campaign with a fundraiser next Thursday at 5:30 at the Gateway Shopping Center. Jones represents Dist. 10.

• The Jacksonville Waterways Commission is meeting Thursday at 9 a.m. in City Council Chambers.
