There’s a concerted effort from the folks at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid to let those in the surrounding community know about JALA services and its overall benefit to the community.
As part of that effort, JALA is running seven different public service announcements during prime time on TV-30.
The commercials are underwritten by Spohrer Wilner Maxwell & Matthews P.A. and highlight each subject area JALA handles. The commercials started three weeks ago and first address predatory lending, then domestic violence.
JALA is also in the midst of its 10-Four campaign and already has four firms in which every attorney within those firms has donated money to the organization, including Pajcic & Pajcic; Terrell Hogan; Milton Leach Whitman D’Andrea Charek & Milton; and Liles Gavin Costantino & George.
The 10-Four campaign is only two years old, but according to JALA Development Director Christa Figgins, it’s going very well.
“We’re really overwhelmed with the response,” said Figgins. “There seems to be an upswell of folks doing 100 percent. We also have a few other firms working on getting to 100 percent.”
JALA will also be unveiling its new Web site soon. The page was designed by Spark Inc., owned by Richard Davis. His brother, Jeff Davis, owns Legal Arts Works on Laura Street. The site will also feature an online donation page.
And you may be getting a call from a fellow attorney in the coming weeks as Jacksonville Area Legal Aid kicks off its pledge drive during its annual phone-a-thon.
