Jacksonville realtors Russell Grooms and Wendell Davis came away from their association’s state convention this weekend with two of the top honors.

Grooms, an agent in Watson Realty’s Ortega office, was named Realtor of the Year and Davis, who heads Watson’s property management division, was elected treasurer of the Florida Association of Realtors.

Grooms, who was the FAR president in 2004, led the effort for disaster relief and produced $2.2 million. He also serves as head of the association’s nominating committee.

“I’m overwhelmed,” he said Monday after returning from the convention in Hollywood, Fla. “When you’re in a group of 165,000 people and you get singled out like that, it tends to really hit you.”

He has been an agent with Watson for 34 years.

Davis was the FAR secretary this year and will be in the treasurer’s spot in 2007, continuing his rise up the ladder to the state presidency.

His next challenge will be to become president-elect.

In addition to Property Management, Davis is also president of Watson Maintenance Services, a Watson Realty subsidiary serving the major Jacksonville area. Watson Maintenance has four divisions: a Plumbing Division, a Heating and Air Conditioning Division, an Electrical Contracting Division, and a Home Improvement Division.
