• Clarification: In a City Note last Wednesday concerning an e-mail that Duval County School Superintendent Joseph Wise sent to policy Chief Adam Hollingsworth stating that he has “engaged legal counsel to explore defamation and false light claims as a result of this latest rounds of attacks.” It was stated that it was directed at the Delaware school district where he worked before coming to Jacksonville. It was actually directed at the Delaware State Auditor.

• Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida has named Baptist Medical Center Downtown as a “Blue Distinction Center” for cardiac care. It is one of only 26 hospitals in the state to receive the designation. The program was developed with the goal of giving consumers the data they need to make informed choices about health care while collaborating with leading providers to improve quality and affordability of specialty care.

• St. Vincent’s physicians, board members and administrators will celebrate the completion of the hospital’s “Building a Healthier Community” campaign at a reception April 17 at the King Street Location, after the dedication and blessing of both the St. Vincent’s River House and the Gary and Nancy Chartrand Heart and Vascular Center Clinic Building at 4:30 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, call 308-3197.

• The Good Guys Car Show is Friday-Sunday at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Hours Friday and Saturday are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be over 1,500 hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks from all years. There will also be vendors and exhibitors as well as nightly parties. Admission is $15 for general admission, children ages 6-12 is $6 and children under six are free. Parking at the stadium costs $5.

• Jacksonville Area Legal Aid is sponsoring a Mental Illness Awareness and Ethics CLE course April 25. The course will be held from 9 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. in the auditorium at the Main Library. Speakers will include Sheriff John Rutherford; Duval County Public Defender Bill White; Professor Toinia Werner, M.D., director of forensic psychiatry at the University of Florida Medical School; and Elizabeth Clark Talbert, Ethics Counsel for the Florida Bar. Attendees will receive 3.5 ethics credits that include 2.5 in mental illness awareness and one in ethics. • There is a new JTA Park-n-Ride direct shuttle service available for commuters during the Mathews Bridge construction project. Buses will run between Downtown and Regency Square Mall every 15 minutes from 5:15 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. Monday-Friday until the bridge reopens. All-day parking is free in lots 14 and 15 at the mall near the JTA bus stop hub facing Olive Garden; bus fare is 75 cents each way.
