Last year, the Jessie Ball duPont Fund gave the City a $150,000 grant to restore the Jessie Ball duPont Park in San Marco. Perhaps better known as Treaty Oak Park, the City plans to renovate the park — which features a 200-plus year-old oak tree — in phases. The first phase will begin in April and include the removal of the sidewalk, the addition of new fencing, a new walkway and landscaping. According to one City official, the project is late in the bid phase and will ultimately cost about $800,000. By the time it’s finished, the park will have lattice gazebos and plenty of tables and chairs.
