A new group has formed at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens to support and increase awareness of the museum in Nassau County.
Cummelia is a small group of Amelia Island residents who are also members of the Cummer Museum. The group is similar to the museum’s FOCUS group and the Up & Cummers. FOCUS is an organization for residents of the beaches community and the Up & Cummers is for Jacksonville’s young professionals.
The co-Chairs of Cummelia are Jane Brown and Pat Panella while Judy Pillans is the group’s event chairperson.
Doran Donovan, an officer of Cummelia, said there are 162 members of the Cummer Museum in Nassau County and 108 of those are members of Cummelia.
Donovan added that Cummelia will host three events per year — two in the Amelia Island/Nassau County area and one at the Cummer Museum in Riverside. Each of the three events will focus on a current or new exhibit at the museum.
They already had two events this year, one in June and one earlier this month.
“Cummelia provides its members several opportunities to augment their Cummer involvement through events held in Amelia Island and Nassau County and the museum,” said Donovan.
Membership is $20 and is in addition to the basic Cummer membership. For more information, please contact the membership department at the museum at 899-6007.
