The Fraternal Order of Police held its regular luncheon Wednesday at its Beach Boulevard headquarters, where the organization released a list of candidates it is endorsing for the spring election.

FOP President Nelson Cuba said candidates are reviewed by a Political Action Committee, then submitted to the organization for a vote. He said 1100 of FOP’s 2,900 members voted.

“That’s a better turnout [percentage-wise] than the city [elections],” said Cuba.

Candidates endorsed by the order are: for Jacksonville mayor, Mayor John Peyton; for City Council at Large, Group 3 Stephan Joost; for City Council District 1, Cheryl Donelan Grymes; for City Council District 2, William H. Bishop III; for City Council District 6, Sean M. Reichard; for City Council District 7, Martha C. Valdes-Pellino; for City Council District 8, a co-endorsment of E. Denise Lee and L. Jerome Spates; for City Council District 9, Warren A. Jones; for City Council District 11, Ray Pringle.
