• The investiture schedule for the Fourth Judicial Circuit’s four new judges is set. Circuit Judge Dan Wilensky’s is Jan. 18 on the 15th floor of the Annex at 4 p.m. Circuit Judge Libby Senterfitt’s is Jan. 25 on the 15th floor of the Annex at 4 p.m. Circuit Judge John Merrett’s is Feb. 8 in Courtrooms 4 and 5 in the County Courthouse at 4 p.m. And, County Judge Dawn Hudson’s is Feb. 22 in Courtrooms 4 and 5 at 4 p.m.

• As of Friday, over 6 million passengers have passed through Jacksonville International Airport this year, according to an estimate by the Jacksonville Aviation Authority. The current expansion program, scheduled to be completed in 2009, will increase the terminal’s capacity to 8 million passengers per year with new concourses and additional post-security restaurants and shops.

• According to the Florida Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services, violations of the state’s “Do Not Call” program in 2006 once again are at the top of the top-10 list of written complaints. The number of “Do Not Call” violations for the year was 4,782 – about 600 more than in 2005. The Department collected more than $125,800 in fines this year against telemarketers who made unwanted phone calls to people on the “Do Not Call” list. Travel and vacation plans ranked second with 3,184; third was motor vehicle repair with 2,078 complaints; and construction came in fourth with 2,002 complaints, followed by (in order) communications, credit & banking, motor vehicle sales & accessories, landlord/tenant, electronic equipment and home furnishings.

• The deadline for citizens to apply for a reduction of a fine imposed by the City’s Municipal Code Enforcement Board is quickly approaching. If you were fined by Code Enforcement before May 1, you have until Jan. 30 to apply for a reduction of up to 25 percent of that fine. You can apply on-line at coj.net or pick up an application at City Hall, any public library or the City’s Property Safety Division on Art Museum Drive.
