The I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless took another step towards expanding their facilities when the new health/dental center was dedicated on Friday.

The Hugh H. Jones, Jr. Medical/Dental Building will offer medical and dental care to the uninsured and poor in the community, said Julia Taylor, chair of the I.M. Sulzbacher’s Board of Directors.

“Today marks a very special milestone for the center,” she said.

The building was named after Hugh Jones, Jr., a person who has been an important part of the nonprofit organization since it opened in 1994.

“I love this place,” said Jones. “I have learned a lot from this place and you can see miracles happen here.”

Sherry Burns, president/CEO of the Sulzbacher Center, said the growth of the center has been an incredible journey.

“We are happy to open the doors and serve people in a way they truly deserve,” she said.

Less than a year ago, the Sulzbacher Center also opened the Barnett Children’s Center.
