• If you’ve noticed the Downtown Ambassadors haven’t been picking up trash lately, there’s a good reason for it. According to Downtown Vision, Inc., administrative issues with DVI’s insurance carrier have “temporarily halted” the cleaning activities of the Ambassadors. Two solutions include working with the City to increase its Downtown cleaning services or hiring a small cleaning crew.

• Look for signs to go up in Treaty Oak Park in San Marco similar to the ones in Hemming Plaza. The signs will indicate the park opens at sunrise and closes at sunset.

• Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland is hosting the grand opening of the new elections office branch on Norwood Avenue. It’s Tuesday at 11 a.m.

• Special Counsel, the legal staffing unit of Jacksonville-based MPS Group, Inc., has acquired the legal placement, staffing and outsourced document review units of Esquire Group, a legal recruiting and consulting firm headquartered in Minneapolis.

• St. Vincent’s Hospital surpassed its 2006 goal for volunteerism with 279 people donating 35,657 hours of their time everywhere from the surgical waiting rooms to the gift shop. Among the active volunteers, 126 are members of St. Vincent’s Auxillary, 114 are teen volunteers, 35 are adult volunteers who are not members of the Auxillary and five are students at the Palm Avenue Exceptional Student Center. A volunteer hour is valued at $15.43, making last year’s contributions to the hospital equal to more than $550,000.

• Some of the best-known drivers from road racing’s “golden era” will attend this year’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance March 9-11. Sir Stirling Moss, John Surtees, John Fitch, Herschel McGriff, Brian Redman and Vic Elford will recount their driving experiences from some of motorsports’ most famous road races at a seminar on the final day of the event. “It may be the last time this group of racing legends is together,” said Bill Warner, founder and chairman of the Concours d’Elegance. • The Museum of Science and History is expecting thousands at the eighth annual Water Education Festival. The museum will have interactive displays and activities as well as crafts, water education games, and exhibits with water animals from the Jacksonville Zoo. Admission is free for the event on Feb. 3 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The festival is sponsored by the St. Johns River Water Management District and the City of Jacksonville’s Environmental Protection Board.

• The Art Department at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts is displaying artist Rodney Wilkinson’s “Shifting Semblance” exhibit from Jan. 25-Feb. 15.

• The Main Library’s next Intermezzo concert is at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 11. Guests will enjoy “Love songs by Beethoven, Ravel, Finzi and Rachmaninoff.” The concerts are all performed by local musicians.
