Florida Coastal School of Law Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Law Donald Jones (second from right) was recognized recently by the Young Lawyers Division of The Florida Bar’s Board of Governors with the 2007 Diversity Award. Jones was the first African-American on the bench in the south when we was appointed a municipal judge in Miami. Jones — pictured with immediate-past President of the Florida Bar Hank Coxe, YLD Board member Michael Orr, FCSL Dean Peter Goplerud and YLD Board member Kevin Cook — said he will donate the $2,000 that accompanies the award to a fund at FCSL that helps students with emergency funding needs.
